Meet Allison Marinucci

Allison Marinucci, LMSW is a licensed clinician, having obtained her MSW from SUNY University at Albany.

Allison made the decision to follow her passion by returning to graduate school after earning her BA in Sociology several years prior, also from the University at Albany.

She began her career working in Albany Memorial and Samaritan’s Hospital Emergency Room as an advocate for victims of sexual and criminal violence, and is currently an outpatient therapist working with adolescents.

Allison knows firsthand the physical and mental benefits of endurance training.

After the birth of her son, Allison battled with postpartum depression. Searching for an outlet, she found running to be exactly what she needed; it provided a mental and physical escape, and was a helping hand up out of the darkness of her overwhelming postpartum struggles. Since then, Allison has completed several ultramarathons, sky races and triathlons. She believes physical movement is incredibly healing, and is essential to mental wellbeing.

After being diagnosed with hip dysplasia, Allison underwent a double hip replacement at the age of 40 in 2022. Committed to her recovery and maintaining a positive mental approach, she was riding her bicycle 10 miles within weeks after each surgery. Always looking for the next challenge, Allison is currently training for her first half Ironman.

Her professional knowledge paired with her passion and history of endurance training makes Allison doubly qualified to counsel performance and endurance athletes. Being one herself, she understands the mindset required in order to handle the highs and lows of training and racing, including:

•Possessing the drive to compete in an endurance sport or event—and being successful in completing the event.

•The enjoyment of being pushed out of their comfort zone—both physically and mentally—and knowing you have the courage to set these goals and fulfill them.

•The thrill of accomplishment after completing these events—seeking the “high” of knowing you can achieve victory and knowing you’re capable of doing difficult things.

•Finding the most appropriate ways to cope with the “lows”—the fear of failure, the need for perfection, burn out, experiencing “post-race blues”, depression, and anxiety.

•Navigating the challenges and the triumphs involved both mentally and physically, whether you’re an elite or recreational athlete.

Schedule a free initial consultation to assess your goals and needs—then we can determine the most beneficial course of action for you!
